Like I’m sure I have mentioned before, (like a million times before) I love Valentine’s Day. This is one holiday where I can dress up in a red cocktail dress and nude heels and not seem overdressed. I had the cutest outfit planned out for a Valentine’s Day shoot, but of course the weather didn’t cooperate and my photographer (aka my sister) was super busy with school and wasn’t available. Don’t worry, I have a plan for the outfit, so you will see it soon! So in place of a Valentine’s shoot, I created a few looks with this guide! These outfits are perfect for going out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Each dress is under $100!

My favorite dresses for winter are the ones with long sleeves. They will keep you warm while also looking chic. You can also wear tights under any dress to keep warm (my favorite thing to do). For dress colors, think red and pink. But you can also go with a black dress and wear red or pink accent jewelry.

Which look is your favorite? I’m stuck between number 1 and 4. Let me know in the comments!

Faux Suede Skirt

Skirt // Blazer // Top // Tights // Necklace // Booties // Bag // Key chain

Happy Tuesday! My laptop is still being worked on, so still bear with me on the photos! I found this faux suede skirt online at Old Navy (sold out, so I tagged a similar one) and knew I needed to have it in my closet. You can wear it during the fall, winter (with tights if it’s cold where you live) and beginning of spring. You can dress it up like I did here with a white tunic and blazer, or make it more casual with a graphic tee.

This outfit would be perfect for your Valentine’s day brunch or dinner.

What’s In My Bag: Small Edition

Happy Monday, loves! I hope everyone had a great weekend. And what about that Patriots v. Broncos football game yesterday!? Go Broncos!

Haha anyways, every wonder what you should keep in a small bag when you are out to dinner or for a few drinks with the girls? Well I’m about to help you out!

  1. Small bag: first of all, it’s best to carry a small bag around with you when you are just going to dinner or a few drinks. I don’t know about you guys, but it’s always hard trying to find a place to store my big bag when I’m in a small crowded bar, am I right? This bag is just the right size to hold everything I need, and isn’t too big. You can find a similar one HERE! You can find the puff ball HERE.
  2. Wallet: to fit my small bag, I usually only carry around a small one that holds my most important cards and cash. I love this one from target.
  3. A few obvious things would be my sunglasses (I can’t go anywhere without them), keys (similar key chain HERE), and breath mints or gum.
  4. Hand lotion: during the winter months, my hands are always super dry, so I like to carry a small thing of hand lotion everywhere I go. This one is the perfect size and works great!
  5. Lip moisturizer: I have the same problem with my lips as I do my hands, they get super dry! So I keep 2 different types of moisturizer with me this one I use to moisturize my lips if I want a tint to it. And this one for just a normal moisturizer.
  6. Lip color: Whatever lipstick or lip gloss I decided to apply, I always carry with me for touch ups. I love this matte liquid lipstick from Colourpop!
  7. The last thing I carry with me is my Blur Perfecter from YSL. Whenever my face gets oily, I apply this over my makeup to get rid of the shine. There is also a mirror in it, so I can also use it as a compact!

If you are carrying a smaller bag than this, you can get rid of the lip moisturizer and hand lotion (I can just get a little OCD about applying moisturizer in the winter months! 🙂 )

What do you like to carry in your small bag when you go out? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe for updates on new posts!

Fall Staples

fall staples

I’m so happy that the weather in STL is finally starting to cool off. The night time temps have been in the 50s! Perfect for apple picking, pumpkin farms, and bonfires (I have had 2 already).

In honor of fall temperatures, I decided to put together a list of some of my fall staples that are perfect for cooler weather! How cute is that faux suede skirt!? Everything is linked below. I also found a similar skirt that is a bit cheaper than the one above (which you can find HERE).

Necklace Layering

Happy Tuesday! I know I have been really MIA lately. Overtime at work is really kicking my butt (many naps were needed). SO glad to be back at this! I have a lot of fun things planned, like fall outfits, reviews of some amazing products I just received from influenster, and friday favorites! What other things would you like to see on Styled Muse? Let me know in the comments, or send me an e-mail at styledmuse@gmail.com!

One trend that I am really loving right now is necklace layering. It really adds that perfect touch to your outfit. The trick is to find one really long necklace (one that hits your mid torso) and one shorter one (a monogram necklace is perfect for this). You can even add a medium length necklace AND short length necklace.

Since your necklaces are your statement pieces, it’s best to stay with small stud earrings like I am wearing above. Otherwise, it can be a bit too much.

I have linked similar necklaces and earrings below (the ones I’m wearing were from my Rocksbox). I also tagged a few others that would be perfect for necklace layering.

Similar to ones I’m wearing: Long Necklace // Short Necklace // Earrings

Long necklaces: One // Two

Short necklaces: One // Two // Three

Monogram necklaces: One // Two // Three

Earrings: One

Have you ever tried necklace layering? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend? I was dealing with a sick cat all weekend, and spent most of my Sunday at the vet. Luckily she is starting to feel better!

I found this adorable shirt at the Banana Republic friends and family sale for half off last year! They no longer have it in stock, so I will link a few similar ones (one more expensive, and a few cheaper ones). I love the detail on the collar. It pairs perfectly with black shorts or a pair of jeans and booties. Of course, I had to include my fedora, which I have been wearing all summer long!

The lipstick is ELF moisturizing lipstick in Orange Cream.

Happy Monday! Last week was such a crazy week for me. On the Fourth of July I had about 25 total people come by my place for a BBQ (it was the first time we had this many people in our little apartment). I was SO worn out and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to work overtime everyday…Let’s just say I’m excited for this week to go back to normal (even though it’s going to be almost 100 degrees this week in St. Louis).

The weather here in St. Louis is always so up and down. One week it will be 70 degrees, and the next 100 degrees. For those weeks that are 70 degrees, I love pairing my favorite shorts with some sort of light weight cardigan (especially for the cold office at work). This pineapple cardigan from Target has been on major repeat this summer. In this look, I paired it with white shorts, a basic black tee, black booties, and a tassel necklace. I found this cardigan in store, and have yet to find it online since I posted it last, so I’m linking another option.

Have a great week everyone, and stay cool during this scorcher!

My Favorite Romper

Happy Thursday! Just one more day until the weekend. This week has been a long one for me, and I’m just ready to relax!

I have been on the search for a romper that fits my body type since last summer. Every romper that I would try on just seems to look weird on me. I found this one at Target a few weeks ago and decided to try it on (but of course not getting my hopes up). I was so exited to see that it actually looked decent on me! So of course I had to buy it (linked below). I also found this cute pineapple cardigan on sale for $15! Unfortunately they do not sell the cardigan online, only in stores, so I just linked a plain cardigan below.

Of course, I had to add my favorite summer fedora to the outfit. I’m sure you will be seeing it a few times in my outfit posts this summer 🙂

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sooo, can we talk about the Lilly for Target madness? I mean, did anyone expect it to be this crazy? I remember Sunday morning I was looking at everything online thinking “well, I guess I can just go to Target later and look at everything” boy was I wrong. I should have just bought it online while it was in stock! I did end up with a few items, but of course everything I had my eye on was sold out. If you were able to get there in time, tag me in your photos, I would love to see what you found!

I bought these earrings and necklace from the Metal Marvels flash sale! They have the cutest jewelry at an affordable price! Their website is linked HERE if you would like to go take a look!
