Happy Tuesday! My laptop is still being worked on, so still bear with me on the photos! I found this faux suede skirt online at Old Navy (sold out, so I tagged a similar one) and knew I needed to have it in my closet. You can wear it during the fall, winter (with tights if it’s cold where you live) and beginning of spring. You can dress it up like I did here with a white tunic and blazer, or make it more casual with a graphic tee.

This outfit would be perfect for your Valentine’s day brunch or dinner.

Have a great rest of your week!

It’s okay to splurge on yourself every now and then. Everything on this guide is under $70. I have a few of these on my wish list (cough, cough 😉 ). I have that Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette, and it is amazing! It’s seriously a must have. I will have a full review of it on the blog soon, so keep an eye out!

Have a great rest of your week!

Happy Tuesday! Is everyone needing coffee today? I know I am. First of all, I was FINALLY able to take outfit photos! The weather in STL has been crazy, and didn’t make for very good photo shoot weather, until this past weekend! It was 60 degrees! Second, I apologize for the quality of these photos (I promise they were taken with my DSLR!). Sadly, my computer crashed (we think the hard drive is fried 😦 ) and my uncle is in the process of trying to save it. So in the mean time, I have to use my boyfriends laptop, which doesn’t have Photoshop, which means I have to use the photo editing software on my phone, and from them being e-mailed back and forth so many times, the quality goes down. So please bear with me until I get my laptop back. If you know of any free editing software, please let me know!

Anyways, this winter I have been all about oversized sweaters. They are the perfect winter staple that you can dress up or down. I found this one for under $14 on the Target clearance rack! This one can be worn off the shoulder (my fav) or normally. Since it’s not online, I listed a similar one above that’s on sale for under $20. I love wearing a statement necklace and a pair of booties with mine. Everything is tagged above. If something is sold out, I tagged a similar item.

Also… what do you think of my hair? I may have chopped it off over the weekend 🙂 . I have been letting my hair grow for so long, and needed a little bit of a change! But now, my hair feels so much healthier, has a lot of volume, and takes way less time to style! So far I love it 🙂 .

Have a great week!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: For Your Guy

vday

1  //  2  //  3  //  4  //  5  //  6  //  7  //  8  //  9

Happy Hump Day! Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holiday’s (behind Halloween, of course). When I was little, I always made a little mailbox for the Valentine’s I would receive in class. Sometime’s I really miss being a kid!

Since I know it’s always hard to find something for your guy for Valentine’s Day, I created this gift guide to give you a few ideas on what to get him! If your guy is anything like mine (on the geeky side) he will really love the Star Wars shirt and Avengers mug. If he is a huge gamer, this Playstation 4 Dual Charging dock is the perfect gift that will allow him to charge both of his controllers at once.

Also, this Tommy Hilfiger cologne smells amazing. My guy wears it all the time (and he’s almost out!) so I will for sure be picking up a bottle for him.

What do you plan on getting your guy for Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments!

What’s In My Bag: Small Edition

IMG_1788

IMG_1790

Happy Monday, loves! I hope everyone had a great weekend. And what about that Patriots v. Broncos football game yesterday!? Go Broncos!

Haha anyways, every wonder what you should keep in a small bag when you are out to dinner or for a few drinks with the girls? Well I’m about to help you out!

  1. Small bag: first of all, it’s best to carry a small bag around with you when you are just going to dinner or a few drinks. I don’t know about you guys, but it’s always hard trying to find a place to store my big bag when I’m in a small crowded bar, am I right? This bag is just the right size to hold everything I need, and isn’t too big. You can find a similar one HERE! You can find the puff ball HERE.
  2. Wallet: to fit my small bag, I usually only carry around a small one that holds my most important cards and cash. I love this one from target.
  3. A few obvious things would be my sunglasses (I can’t go anywhere without them), keys (similar key chain HERE), and breath mints or gum.
  4. Hand lotion: during the winter months, my hands are always super dry, so I like to carry a small thing of hand lotion everywhere I go. This one is the perfect size and works great!
  5. Lip moisturizer: I have the same problem with my lips as I do my hands, they get super dry! So I keep 2 different types of moisturizer with me this one I use to moisturize my lips if I want a tint to it. And this one for just a normal moisturizer.
  6. Lip color: Whatever lipstick or lip gloss I decided to apply, I always carry with me for touch ups. I love this matte liquid lipstick from Colourpop!
  7. The last thing I carry with me is my Blur Perfecter from YSL. Whenever my face gets oily, I apply this over my makeup to get rid of the shine. There is also a mirror in it, so I can also use it as a compact!

If you are carrying a smaller bag than this, you can get rid of the lip moisturizer and hand lotion (I can just get a little OCD about applying moisturizer in the winter months! 🙂 )

What do you like to carry in your small bag when you go out? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe for updates on new posts!

Birchbox v. Ipsy

IMG_1717

I have been receiving Birchbox and Ipsy for almost a year now, so I decided to show you what I received in both January editions and do a review of both of them and let you know which one was my favorite.

Birchbox

IMG_1716

IMG_1715

IMG_1719

Contents:

1. Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner
2. Whish Three Whishes Body Butter
2. Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel
3. Jouer Matte Moisture Tent
5. Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle

Each month you receive a decorative box (usually decorated like the theme) with five samples. January’s Birchbox was all about 2016 and resolutions. It came with stickers that you can place on the top of your box on what you plan on working on throughout the year. I’m still trying to figure out which one to put on mine. I’m thinking maybe creativity or strength. Or maybe both!

Each month, Birchbox gives you the option to choose a curated box with a special theme, or the normal monthly box. A few months ago, the special box was curated by Nicole Richie! They also let you have a choice of one sample in your box, but you have to act quickly because they go fast!

If you really like one of your samples, you can buy the full size product directly from their website. You can also choose a subscription where you get a full size product each month at an extra cost. If you review your box each month, you can earn points towards free products.

Ipsy

IMG_1718

IMG_1720

Contents:

  1. theBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner
  2. Beau Gachis Paris Smudge Brush
  3. OFRA Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil
  4. Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme
  5. City Color Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio in Falling Leaves

Every month, your five samples come in a makeup bag printed with the months theme. January’s Ipsy bag theme was “All Eyes On You”. A lot of products in this months bag were eyeliners, eyeshadows, brushes, etc. I know I’m saying samples, but a lot of times, Ipsy will give you full size eyeliners, lipsticks or nail polishes!

If you review your Ipsy bag each month, you can earn points towards free products. Ipsy also gives you great deals on full size products. Last week I got an eyeshadow Palette from theBalm for only $20 (normally $36)!

Verdict

Overall, both offer the same thing: 5 samples in a box/bag once a month at $10 a month. It seems like Birchbox is more towards skincare and hair products. I usually only get 1 makeup or nail polish sample a month from them, whereas with Ipsy I get mostly makeup samples and one skincare product. Both send name brand, high quality samples, that I really love!

But if I did have to choose one, I would have to pick Ipsy, but only because I’m more into makeup than skincare products (I have products that I like to stick with). Ipsy also offers better deals on full size products, whereas Birchbox full size products are usually just the normal price. I also love that Ipsy sends a lot of full size products, and Birchbox is only sample sized.

Another thing I like about Ipsy is that the samples come in a makeup bag that I will most likely be able to use again. The boxes from Birchbox are super cute, but I’m running out of ideas on how to reuse them! Let me know in the comments how you reuse yours, I need help!

Preparing For The Week

Face Masks  //  Night Cream (similar)  //  Nail Polish  //  Coconut Oil  //  Serving Tray

Out of every day of the week, Sunday’s are always my favorite. Most people love to spend their Sunday’s doing absolutely nothing (I do this on Saturday’s), which is okay! I spend my Sunday’s preparing for the week ahead. I’m the type of person that has to organize and plan everything out, which is why this is my favorite day!

When I first wake up on Sunday’s (which is usually around 7:30am because I can’t sleep in :/ ), I eat a little bit of breakfast (while planning out what I am going to cook throughout the week), workout, and then head to the grocery store to get my groceries for the week. Once I get home, I start prepping my lunches for the week.

Once I finish with all that, I start my coconut oil hair mask. I got my coconut oil from Aldi (it seemed to be the cheapest), but you can literally find it anywhere. I swear by coconut oil. You can literally use it for anything from makeup remover, face scrub, moisturizer, to lip balm! Some people like to melt the coconut oil before they put it in their hair, but I just find that to be too messy. I take a teaspoon of coconut oil, warm it in my hands a little bit, then start putting it in my hair. Since I have oily hair, I usually only put it from the middle to the ends of my hair. Take more teaspoons out until your hair is completely covered where you want it. I let it set in my hair for about two hours. While I let it set, I start doing laundry, plan blog posts for the week, and clean my makeup brushes.

After my coconut oil hair mask has set, I take a shower. It usually takes about 2 washes to completely wash out all of the coconut oil. But once you are done, you will notice how soft your hair is! It also makes it thicker and grow faster. I do this only once a week. One time during the week (usually Wednesday’s), I use a 3 minute hair mask that I bought from Dollar Tree, just to give it a little extra moisture after washing.

Also while I am in the shower, I like to exfoliate my face to get off all the extra dead skin cells, so my makeup will look fresher throughout the week. Once out of the shower I apply a face mask. I usually use the Dead Sea Essentials by Ahava soothing chamomile spa facial and mud mask (found at Target), or a Nugg face mask. It helps to detoxify and deep clean my skin. I just recently bought two new face masks at Walmart by Freeman (you can see them in the photos above). I’m going to give them a try this weekend!

After I’m done with my face mask I apply my ELF nourishing night cream, then watch Netflix (I’m currently watching Friends 🙂 ) while painting my nails.

How do you prepare yourself for the week? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe!
